Picture Window on linux
On my old website there was a howto for how to install Picture Window under linux.
I will add this content here to. You can read more about Picture Window on Norman Koren’s website.
The software itself can be downloaded at the dl-c.com website. There is a 30 days evaluating version on that pages. Every new function in pw4 works now in recent wine version. However as I write this, there is a bug in wine that causes picture window to crash a lot. I have downgraded my wine tools to version 0.32. It works nicely. I also only use the pw35 version as I have a license on that.

You will need wine version 0.32. Newer versions may also work. You should also compile wine with color management support (lcms). After wine is installed, you have to run the wineprefixcreate tool. It makes the folder ~/.wine with a windows folder structure in it.
After this I like to make the folder for storing color profiles. The command
mkdir -p ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32/color/
will take care of that. I don’t know why this is not created by wineprefixcreate.
After this you have to run wine setup.exe to install Picture Window. If it is pw40 you are trying to install, you probably need the library gdipluss.dll. I suggest putting this file in ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32/.
After you have started picture window for the first time I suggest setup the color management. I recommend also using the lcms color engine. It’s better and have more options than the windows version.
In the end I got colormanagement like this. (This screenshots are old, since they are taken from my old page)
An old screenshot showing the same image from a sunset in Dirdal(where I live), Norway, 3 times. The image is in ProPhoto colorspace. Picture Window 3.5 (up right) Cinepaint (top left) colormanaged viewing the same image, and gimp (down left) not colormanaged
